Planning this large scale build project in Essex
A major renovation and extension in Billericay, transforming the home with open-plan living, a bespoke garden room and more private family space.

How This Family Home Grew Properly
Jen and Mitch’s home in Billericay was ready for a much bigger transformation.
RJA Building & Maintenance Ltd was brought in to carry out one of its most comprehensive renovation and extension projects to date, reshaping the house around modern family life.
What needed solving
The project needed to improve space, flow and comfort throughout the home.
A key part of the brief was to create a large open-plan kitchen and dining area, giving the family a central space that worked better for everyday living, entertaining and time together.

What we built
The renovation included a full house refurbishment, with a vast modern kitchen diner created at the heart of the home.
One of the standout features was the largest garden room RJA had built at the time. Designed specifically for hypnobirthing sessions, it included a cedar front and large Georgian-style double doors.
At the rear of the property, the pitched roof was removed to allow for a straight-up extension. This created a striking main bedroom with a vaulted ceiling, adding height, light and a stronger sense of space.
The project also included three en-suite bathrooms for the young daughters, giving each family member more privacy and convenience.

The result
The completed project turned the property into a far more spacious, practical and personal family home.
By combining a full home renovation, rear extension, open-plan kitchen diner, bespoke garden room and new en-suites, RJA helped Jen and Mitch create a home that feels bigger, more comfortable and much better suited to the way they live.
